The Italian metal brand De Castelli asked seven female designers to make a furniture collection with warmth and softness. De Castelli wanted to change the myth that metal is a cold, masculine material by making them softer.
The designers have used warm toned metals combined with curved forms and decorative details.
Gender equality have for a while now been a discussed topic, but is growing more and more within design and architecture; an industry largely dominated by men. It has been known that some women face a stereotype that they are expected to produce a certain kind of work because of their gender.
The collection is called Tracing Identity. It wakes awareness of gender equality and also shows products that are combined with what we think is typical male and female.
